WE MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR PEOPLE TO LIVE ON THEIR OWN

As the ONLY service provider to the Deaf/Blind population in Louisiana, we teach people to be independent, navigate their new world and place them in competitive employment. 


Clients are individuals who are deaf or deaf/blind and are generally referred by Louisiana Rehabilitation Services.  

Training will be provided according to the individuals needs.  Skills are taught by visual or manual, sign language or Braille means.  

We have provided training in the areas of Work Ethics, Independent Living Skills, Communication Skills and Community Integration Skills.  Classroom instruction and preparation has resulted in ninety-five percent success rate of individuals becoming competitively employed in the community.


LCDC is the only Helen Keller Institute affiliated program in Louisiana to assist individuals who are deaf/blind.
