The Arc Children's Services is a family-oriented program designed to assist children of all ages with special needs to maximize their developmental potential and to promote their rights, as well as full inclusion within the community. Our focus for children and their families is to improve the quality of life through our five programs.

Services are provided in the home, child care settings, and community settings. The services can include special instruction, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work services, nursing services and parent education.
Training and Technical Assistance: Our staff provides training, technical assistance, mentoring and support to community-based programs and school systems to promote inclusion.
The Arc Early Head Start & Child Care Center: We provide a Class A quality inclusive child care center to provide education to children with and without disabilities. This is a collaboration with YWCA Early Head Start.
Family Support Projects: We support family members of children with disabilities through special projects, information and workshops and individual technical assistance.
School Age Support Projects: We support school age children through special projects, information, and direct services within programs, camps, and recreation programs.
TO WHOM ARE THESE SERVICES OFFERED?
The Early Intervention services are provided to children birth - 3yrs. who have challenges that might hinder their ability to grow and learn. We work with children who may have Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Speech and Language Delays, Seizure Disorder, other medical conditions or educational concerns. Many of the children we serve are at risk of needing special services to attend school, participate in the community and work.
HOW ARE THE SERVICES WE PROVIDE OFFERED?
Our services are provided in a seven parish region. Our therapists and social workers drive to what we call the child’s natural environment which is where the child lives, plays and/or interacts with caregivers such as the home or child care center. They work with the child and the family or caregiver to enhance the child’s growth and development.
We make a difference
Did you know that society gets a "lot of bang for the buck" when dollars are spent toward early intervention? On average,it has been estimated that society gets a 12% return when monies are invested in early intervention.
Early intervention reduces the number of people that have to live in institutions, reduces the number of families who disintegrate due to economical hardships and stressors that arise in raising a child with exceptional needs, and increases the number of families that are able to keep their jobs and raise their children with challenges in growth and learning.
