| Purpose and Community Impact
Our goal is to advocate for the rights of all adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as improve and encourage community participation in the Baton Rouge area. We are able to accomplish this through the following service areas:
Children's Services We are the largest provider of Early Intervention Services in the state. Our therapists go to the child's natural environment to deliver services. Children in rural areas are able to receive services where this may not have been available otherwise.
Vocational Services We help people earn a paycheck, pay taxes, and become contributing members of our community. This can be done through job training, and job placement in local businesses or through job crews. We also have paid work opportunities housed at our own facilities.
Support Services We help people live with their families or in their own homes. We provide direct care to individuals in their home or when needed at our home facility.
Inclusive Recreation We work with local agencies and individuals to encourage recreational activities for people of all ages with and without disabilities. We currently facilitate sports leagues for approximately 450 individuals. We encourage volunteer opportunities.
Community Service Our participants actively contribute to our community by volunteering at the local food bank, Red Cross, schools, and community nursing homes. We also participate in agency fairs and community events.
